Windows XP driver to force CF as fixed disk (XPfildrvr1224.zip)
Some CF cards identify themselves as removable disks as opposed to fixed disks.
This poses a problem when using a CF card as the primary install drive for Windows, which will not enable DMA or pagefile on “removable” disks.
The solution is to force the driver for a Hitachi MicroDrive on the CF card. (Not the IDE controller)

For XP – still a valid solution.
Thanks man!

Still working in 2014, for XP with SP3 on a Transcend TS32GCF400 card with the Addonics adapter. Took a long time to find this solution, but it’s exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Thanks a lot!!! WXP SP3 in Schneider iPC using a CF SanDisk Extreme of 64GB without adaptors (changed the DIP SW#5 System DIP sws “B” on motherboard to make the CF as master) and works beautiful! Abrazos!
